The back shop

  • Once a ski brand is selected, SRS contacts the National and Eastern Race Representative for that brand, in which to place an order directly through their Race Room.
  • SRS Technician's will strip the race skis of all race plates, dampening effects and any other attachments, which will allow for a flat, and planed approach when we effect a base grind.
  • The SRS Technician assigned, will draw back the topcoat of the ski, in the area around the tip and tail, pulled back to 5 degree slant, to allow for edging tools to follow the line of the edges.
  • SRS Technician will then shape the sidewall through a sanding technique, providing the SRS Swoosh.
  • The skis are now ready to have a base grind utilizing our in-house Wintersteiger Omega Racing 350, which allow the Technician to flatten the bases, and provide a new base structure specific to the skier's biomechanics, type of snow (ex: hard manmade, spring conditions, etc), and discipline of ski.
  • The SRS Technician will then utilize the Wintersteiger Trimjet PP35 Edge which will surgically cut the edges to the computerized specifications as set forth by the tech. Unless otherwise directed by the earlier assessments, we will cut the slalom skis at 3 degrees side bevel, and 0.5 degrees base bevels.  We will then cut giant slalom skis at 3 degrees side bevel, and 0.75 degrees bas bevel.
  • The skis are then placed in the Wintersteiger Tech Waxer, utilizing the latest in infrared technology, baking the race wax into the vases. This is followed by a scrape, and then brush cycles.
  • Once complete, the SRS Technician will replace the race plate, and any damping effects, before mounting the bindings.
  • Based upon earlier assessments, the technician will set the ramp angle and install the lift plates. The ramp angles are assigned due to the discipline of the ski, and how that pairs with the individual athlete's biomechanical assessments.
